Friday Guild

The Friday Guild has met each Friday in the Parish House. We feel so fortunate
to have such a wonderful place to gather. Fingers fly as we work preparing for the Lawn
Party–now “Fair for Outreach”–and also our own Christmas Fair.

We started the year hosting the huge reception after Fifi Richard’s funeral. In
April Mary Ann Hoy joined us for a pot luck luncheon and offered Communion as we
reminisced and celebrated the life of Joyce Pfizenmayer. lt was Joyce, with the
encouragement of John lneson, who started the Guild about twenty years ago.

We participated in the Lawn Party in July. In October we prepared and presented the annual
Senior Luncheon. ln December we decorated the Parish House for our very own
Christmas Fair and Luncheon. We were so pleased to see so many St. Andrew’s
parishioners there this year.

The fruits of our labor have reached many. First and foremost, five St. Andrew’s
children received scholarships to Bishopswood. ln August we sent $100 to the Salvation
Army hurricane relief fund. During the winter, we contributed $500 to the local fuel
assistance fund, $500 to the Ecumenical Food Pantry and $50 to St. Andrew’s
Restoration. Again at Christmas we sent $100 to the Food Pantry. All of these donations
were possible because of proceeds from our Christmas Fair the previous year.

We enjoy the fellowship of this very small ministry. Our group has dwindled down
to onIy 6 or 7 people, but we think the results speak volumes.
