Fair for Outreach

The Saint Andrew’s FAIR FOR OUTREACH was held Saturday, July 11th, 2009 beginning at 8:30 a.m. with a Live Auction at 10:30.

St. Andrew’s Fair for Outreach was formerly called the St. Andrew’s Lawn Party and Auction, but the name was changed to reflect the fact that all net proceeds from this event go to support grants to local and international charities and community organizations, not to St. Andrew’s.

Many churches have fairs to raise money for their own operating costs, but this fair raises money for others.

Each year St. Andrew’s members and community friends come together at the Fair to raise over $20,000, all of which goes to support needs in the local community and in St. Andrew’s sister parish in Haiti.

Some past recipients of community grants include CHIP  (Community Housing Improvement Project), Coastal Kids Preschool, Habitat for Humanity, Spectrum Generations, Genesis Fund and Healthy Kids.

The Fair for Outreach is one way the people of St. Andrew’s Church reach out into the community to make friends and lend a hand, and is a day the members of St. Andrew’s thoroughly enjoy. It is hoped that those who join the fun for the day will feel the spirit of welcome and friendship that are a hallmark of St. Andrew’s parish life.

Note: The 2008 Lawn Party and Auction netted $22,155.52, and the Art for Outreach sale $3,444.00, for a combined total of $25,599.52 for Outreach activities.

The financial results from this year’s Fair for Outreach will be posted here shortly, but it was the priority of this year’s Fair to encourage the full participation of St. Andrew’s membership. According to this measurement the 2009 Fair was very much a success.
